Entry Three: The Magic of Glastonbury
Festivals are, without a doubt, one of the greatest experiences life has to offer. The week leading up to them is filled with excitement—listening to the artists you're about to see, planning outfits, gathering supplies, and imagining the unforgettable moments ahead. Then comes the drive down with your mates, buzzing with anticipation, ready to forget about all your worries for a few days and fully immerse yourself in the music, the atmosphere, and the absolute madness.
But Glastonbury? Glastonbury is something even more special.
I was lucky enough to attend Glastonbury for the first time in 2022, and when I tell you I was not prepared for what I experienced, I mean it. The place is ginormous! We had Wednesday and Thursday to explore before the music kicked off for the weekend, and even with five full days on site, there was still so much I didn’t get to see. Glastonbury is an entirely different world. Once you’re in, you’re in—no separate arena, no constant ticket checks. You can take the food and drinks you brought in wherever you like, which is an absolute game-changer (and a serious money-saver).
What makes Glastonbury truly special, though, is the sheer dedication it takes to get there. Tickets sell out months before the lineup is even announced, and the photo ID system means that once you’ve got a ticket, it’s yours—no resale rip-offs, no overpriced markups. It’s a privilege to be there, and everyone knows it. You don’t take it for granted because, realistically, you don’t know when you’ll be lucky enough to go again. That creates an atmosphere unlike anything else—pure appreciation, joy, and a collective experience that feels like stepping into a different universe.
No matter who’s playing, Glastonbury has something for everyone. I could write for hours about all the hidden gems, the random late-night sets, the weird and wonderful places you stumble across at 3 AM, and the moments that stick with you for life. It’s like moving into a new city for a week, but this city revolves around music, culture, and the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. I genuinely believe it is impossible to be in a bad mood at Glastonbury. If I could move there permanently, I would.
This year, I have the absolute pleasure of going for the second time, and I’m even more excited than the first because I know what’s in store—and yet, there’s still so much I haven’t experienced that I know will surprise me.
I will take you all every step of the way and if the next couple of months revolve around hype towards Glastonbury, I’m not sorry!
This Week on The Music Guyde
A new Glastonbury playlist will be dropping this week, featuring a couple of songs from almost every artist on the lineup to help you explore all your options. Whether you’re going or not, this playlist will get you in the festival spirit.
Weekly Guyde #3 has landed, and since we’re on the topic of Glastonbury, I’ve picked out five artists beyond the headliners whose sets you absolutely cannot miss this year:
🎶 She Calls Me Back – Noah Kahan
🎶 Oysters In My Pocket – Royel Otis
🎶 Guilty Conscience – KNEECAP
🎶 For The First Time – The Script
🎶 Purple – Wunderhorse
Trust me when I say these are going to be special.
I also published my Gracie Abrams live review yesterday, so make sure to check that out!
Later this week, I’ll be at The Rodeo Mag's new event on Thursday, where I’ll be seeing a band I’ve been keeping an eye on for a while—The Kites!
Constant updates will be on my Instagram, TikTok, and X, so give me a follow and share with your friends!
See you next week for another blog! 🎪🎵
